Recent SWFObject sightings

Lately I’ve been seeing SWFObject pop up all over the place. Most notably in Digg.com’s new redesign for their embedded video player. Makes sense since YouTube has been using it to embed their videos for months now, and Digg labs has been using it for a while to embed their cool charts and graphs and things.

MSN Radio is using it to embed their radio player, the Transformers movie site uses it (sweet!).

And in other yet related news, I set up a new SWFObject forum (still adding in a few things like the FAQ!) for people to use instead of the mailing list which has been growing quite a bit and is getting a bit too big to manage it well.

Update: The TED conference site uses SWFObject too (and looks like a really sweet conference this year), but of course they didn’t invite me to speak ;).

SwfPlayer is a DNN module used to embed a Flash movie into your DNN portal. I created it using SwfObject. Check it out on my blog :)

Hey Geoff, I’ve been happily using your fantastic creation for some time now with every project I have to push out on the web. The latest was for some players for Wolfgangs Vault – http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/ The ability to integrate detection, ExpressInstall and break out the Flashvars via so.addVariable are super handy. I know viddler.com is using it as well for their video site. Im working on a new project right now that makes great use of swfObject and I extended it a bit to allow automatic adjustments to height/width and other parameters to work with autoswitching style sheets – will send you a link on that one when its live – thanks for the fantastic work! looking forward to the next version. :)

We’ve been using it for a lot of projects at the University of Denver CTL offices and it has been most helpful to us. Currently implememnted in both the DU Portfolio Community application and also our upcoming ALORA/DUVAGA2 project. Thanks a bunch- a real timesaver!

Hi, i have created plugin for WordPress that it allows to insert SWFs in your WodrPress Blog. This Plugin this plugin uses your SWFObject library. SWFObject is very cool library.

I have just converted my custom flash embed scripts for my cms to SWFObject. When all sites have been update (and related bugs have been fixed) you will spot SWFObject even more often :) (+40 initial, and later on some more..)

I use it at What a Savage for the WebPod. Click a music CD review on the right and it will play in the WebPod.

Yeah SWFObjects are almost everywhere now, it’s how the game is played today. I think they took the role of normal html and are the flavor of the month ;)
