Browsing the mailing list archives, I saw that the next release of SWFObject should be able to support Linux users as well. Any estimates on when that release could happen? We're launching a site here pretty soon (next couple of days) that we'd also like to be able to support Linux users with.
Not saying that you have to release it immediately because of our site, but I was just curious to know when we could expect Linux support.
That's a coincidence - I've just come from Linuxforums.com and they are having huge probs accessing my site even in Flash6. That would be wonderful to be able to smooth things out for Linux too!
i replied to josh via email, but for the rest of the list/forum:
SWFObject already supports linux - the plugin architecture in konquerer and firefox on linux is the same as other systems, so there is no difference there.
one thing to note is a new addition in the plugin string... flash player on linux shows up as "Shockwave Flash 9.0 d55" where the 'd' number is the 'development' number... so swfobject i *think* parses this as "9.0.0", so it should still work fine.
