I was visiting the SEOMoz blog (http://www.seomoz.org/blog/guide-to-hidden-text) today where guest writer Eric Enge has written an article called "A Comprehensive Guide to Hidden Text & Search Engines". In his article, Eric highlights Dan Crow (head of Google's crawl team) who said at the Search Engine Marketing New England (SEMNE) event, that SWFObject is "dangerous".
I was surprised, and wondered if I had missed some ongoing discussion about the usability of SWFObject. I recommend it to all the developers I meet. I use it on the sites I manage, and commented in the SEOMoz article that I couldn't understand how Google would consider SWFObject dangerous.
I did some other searching on the web, and found a few other references to Dan Crow's comments about SWFObject being dangerous, in regards to search engine optimization and penalizing websites. Have I just missed the discussions about SWFObject and SEO?
