    i am tring to link and open a Pdf or word file from a button within the swf is it possible?

    when the SWF is loaded in a browser, you can use it to launch any file that a web browser is capable of launching, same as an HTML page.

    as for how to do it, sorry, that's not a swfobject issue (this is a swfobject forum). please try Flash forums such as actionscript.org or kirupa.com. i'm sure they'll have lots of useful posts for you over there!
