I Choo Choo Choose You

A couple years back I was talking to some friends and they mentioned how cool it would be to have the Valentine’s Day cards from past Simpsons episodes. Among them the “I Choo Choo Choose You” that Ralph gives Lisa Lisa gives Ralph, and the “Bee Mine” card with the bee guy on it. The other card was actually “Let’s BEE Friends” and had nothing to do with the Bumblebee guy, even though I think it would have been way better if he was on it.

Well I thought it was such a good idea that I found a screenshot of the card online somewhere and traced it in Illustrator. So I’m offering the results of that for download so you can give your special someone a neat little card this year.

Here it is:

I don’t have a copy of the “Bee Mine” card, but I do know that someone traced it and placed it online at some point last year, so maybe with some luck that one will surface.

UPDATE (02-02-2005): Found the Bee card:

  1. Word for Windows seems to be able to import this file just fine.
You could also try GhostView or any halfway decent graphics program.

  2. I am going to absolutly make my husband’s 1st Valentine’s Day as a married man the best ever! Thank you so much for this!

  4. I did some ‘choo-choo’ cards via CafePress to send out to friends.. they looked great. Thanks for producing this.
in other news, don’t you love these relevant trackbacks?

  5. Yeah it’s hard to get relevant trackbacks on something like this, though.

This post is actually what finally got me to grey out trackbacks by default… Since wordpress mixes them in with the comments they can be very disorienting if they aren’t visually different.

  20. That is very nice. In the spanish episode the “I choo choo choose you” was translated to something like “Eres muy chu chu chuli” that means “You’re very coo coo cool”. Simpsons’ translators have always done a good job here in Spain.

  21. Don’t forget the monkey card Homer buys for Marge when she is envious of all the gifts Apu was buying for his wife for Valentine’s Day (including a chocolate covered Apu). It was a card with two monkeys and their arms intertwine to form a heart. My brain thinks it said “you’re appealing — let’s never split,” but my brain has been known to make mistakes.

  22. TANGENT1138: I have been searching all over for a screenshot of that Tyson vs. Secretariat poster. I noticed that you said you had one and I was wondering if you might be able to send it to me. Or if anyone else out there has a screenshot of it or knows where I can find one I would really appreciate it. Please let me know if you can help me out. Thanks.

  23. I remember that episode!… I couldn’t remember they actually showed the cards (I just remember the phrase “choo-choo-choose you”. Great job cutting the card out of the show, it looks clean enough that I would have thought you re-created it!
